1-TEAM is a transport management and solutions company that provides technical, financial, franchising, and strategic management support to transport groups and companies in order to modernize operations and optimize income earning capability. It champions continuous improvement and sustainable development in the public transport sector, and it promotes holistic development of both people and processes and inclusive growth for all contributors.
To seek and provide people, process, and technology improvements for the stakeholders of the public transport sector that will create positive change in the overall commuting experience and uplift the lives of the transport workforce.
To be a globally competitive unified transport system that champions sustainable development and inclusive growth.
1-TEAM was founded in 2014 by Atty. Vigor Mendoza II and Mr. Yuri Sarmiento as a response to the need for modernization and inclusive growth within the realm of jeepney operations.
Jeepneys have been the backbone of the Philippine public transport system since after World War II and yet “the King of Philippine Roads” has received little to no upgrades since then. Poor vehicle maintenance and cost-inefficient operations have led to problems such as high levels of vehicle-related pollution, overly aggressive driver mindset, poor working conditions, deteriorating public health, and traffic-inducing driver discipline.
As an initial solution,1-TEAM successfully consolidated over 300 individual Public Utility Jeepneys under their unified transport management. This new fleet system introduced a more rigorous selection and training process for drivers and conductors, vehicle maintenance and logistics support, introduction to vehicular technology, and the abolishment of the boundary system. The first 70 jeepneys in this new fleet were dispatched on September 1, 2014.
In October 2016, 1-TEAM launched the first 10 BEEPs (“Bagong Jeeps”) that featured enhanced passenger safety and vehicle design elements as well as a customized BEEP Integrated Logistics Information System (BILIS) for fleet management and driver tracking. This was a joint initiative of 1-TEAM and the transport non-profit group, KAPIT.
Over 30 BEEPs currently operate from terminals in Quezon City and Marikina. The company plans to expand to NUMBER BEEPs operating in additional areas such as Baguio, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, and Rizal.
